I have a spider friend who lives in my rearview mirror and rebuilds its web every night. It usually stays hidden behind the mirror but last week, as I was driving to school one rainy day, it scrambled out and swung wildly in the wind as it busily bundled up a bug. Most drives just leave its web a bit dusty, but the drive to San Jose for the competition last Saturday destroyed all but the sturdiest threads. The web was rebuilt when I looked this morning. I wonder what the lifespan of my spider will be. I don't know what kind it is. Its web is roughly circular and beautifully constructed, but the spider is not the large-abdomen variety that appear in quantity every fall and sit at the center of webs the size of dinner-plates suspended by ten-foot threads between trees and ground.

There are other things going on in my life, but I don't feel inspired to post about them. Maybe another time.
