I have hereby finished grad school applications. The amount of money I've spent includes $566 for GRE tests and extra score reports, $545 for application fees, and $175 for miscellaneous expenses such as transcripts, envelopes, stamps, and the Berkeley Letter Service. Luckily, at least some of this is covered by grant money I have left over.

In other news, I am finally footloose and cast-free, after 6 weeks of hobbling around. I need to just walk around for a few weeks, though, to make sure my foot is really healed before I can dance again. And I'll probably have to invest in some dance sneakers and some heavy padding for my competition shoes.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] jacobiwan asked various schools and fellowship programs what they thought of the letter service, and all those that got back to him said that they did not think less of letters sent from a letter service. Based on that, I felt comfortable using it, though I still asked my recommenders for those letters that I knew I would want far ahead of time. One of my recommenders actually specifically asked me to use it.
