I had a dream last night about a treehouse. This house has come up in my dreams before. It's a rambling house, funky and interesting, full of odd angles, strangely-shaped rooms, paned and stained-glass windows, and trunks of trees. It's up in a tree, or more accurately, several trees. The house has three separate parts, two of which are kind of like studio apartments separated by a walkway of some sort (their form varies from dream to dream), and the third which is an isolated room full of books and pillows, with a conical glass roof and a reflector telescope (this one doesn't vary from dream to dream). In this dream, the house was also a rambling playground in the trees, and became more and more like a playground as the dream progressed.

Maybe I'll have my architect friend Clio build this house for me someday.

Tonight the sunset was beautiful. I'm afraid I just enjoyed it rather than capturing an image of it for all of you.

I have been working on my compiler project for 12 hours now. I'm amazed how lucid this post seems, given that the longer I've been coding, the more my English skills deteriorate. :~)

On a completely different note, my friend pointed me to this ridiculous Craigslist post. What's scary is that I know at least one guy who could write such stuff. :~)

I love your tree house idea. That is so creative.

What is really scary to me about that ad you linked to, is I could see myself being attracted to a guy who talks like that. heh, lucky I don't meet his age requirement. Part of me wanted to know if he would find me "adequate". bleh.

Actually, it intrigued me also - a "challenge." But if he's that much of an ass up front, I can only imagine what he becomes. Very self-focused, and into using women for his own amusement. He would have gotten along well with those 19th-century scholars who supported women's education, but only because educated women can better entertain the men. Chauvenist anachronist! :~) I hope he finds someone who uses him for their amusement right back. :~)

Hooray for treehouses.

Your dream sounds really cool. Have you seen the treehouse at Lothlorien? It's a neat place — i bet you'd like it.

It's true that the personal ad is soaked through and through with an arrogant tone. But some of it i can actually identify with. Is that a shame to admit?
I'm the most attractive man I know, but more importantly, I'm the smartest person I know. If I end up liking you, I'll tell you much more about me, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
He's awfully proud. The confidence is impressive. But then there was that study that said the people who thought they were the most competent were actually the least competent.
I want someone who is without a doubt smarter than me, or at least someone close enough to where it's a grey area, and neither of us know who is smarter.
I actually feel like this (to varying degrees at various times). I definitely want someone who can kick my ass at something. It doesn't have to be a particular thing.
You know the difference between "too" and "to," and "you're," and "your," and "their" and "they're," and "who's" and "whose." No exceptions.
Yeah, that would drive me nuts.

I guess I want to date intelligent people too, but I don't have a checklist. Like good dancing, I know it when I see it, but I couldn't make a list of what I want in a partner any more than I could make a list of what makes a good dancer. Sure, there are some fundamental things that go into both, but the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

I think the ad bothered me because it's just screaming "abuse!" If he's that verbally abusive in the ad, I hate to imagine how he treats someone he's actually dating.

P.S. My automatic response to his comment of "I'm the smartest person I know" is "You don't know that many people, do you?" :~) *shrug* I guess he really could be that smart, but most of the incredibly intelligent people *I* know convey their intelligence in useful and subtle ways.
